What are the best alternatives to EchoDepth?

The main alternatives to EchoDepth for conversation intelligence in UK financial services are Aveni, NICE, Verint, CallMiner, Uniphore and Medallia, which analyse voice and text, and Smart Eye, Affectiva and Hume AI, which analyse facial or vocal emotion. They divide along one line: almost all of them score a single channel well. Aveni is the closest UK specialist, built around FCA Consumer Duty and speech analytics. NICE and Verint are the enterprise incumbents, and usually the cheapest option to integrate because they already own the call recording. CallMiner and Uniphore compete on conversation analytics at scale. Smart Eye and Affectiva come from automotive and market research rather than regulated financial services. EchoDepth differs by fusing face, voice and text into a single congruence score — the measurable gap between what a customer says and what they mean — rather than scoring any one channel in isolation.

The nine, ranked by fit for UK financial services

Ranked for a UK regulated firm with high-volume customer contact and a named executive accountable for outcomes. A different profile reorders this list.

01 · Voice and text

Aveni

The closest thing to a direct UK competitor, and the strongest of them. Edinburgh-based, built specifically around FCA Consumer Duty, with speech analytics and compliance templates aimed at exactly the buyer we sell to.

Choose Aveni over EchoDepth if your interactions are voice and text only, you want Consumer Duty reporting templates configured out of the box, and you need a UK vendor with an established financial services reference list today. On voice-only estates, their speech analytics depth is the benchmark.

The limitation: voice and text are scored as separate signals. A customer whose words and tone both read as calm while their face does not is not visible to a voice-and-text system.

02 · Voice and text

NICE

The enterprise incumbent. If your contact centre already runs NICE for recording and workforce management, their analytics layer is the lowest-friction option on this page by a wide margin.

Choose NICE over EchoDepth if you already own the stack. You will not beat the integration cost, the procurement path is already open, and there is no new vendor to onboard. That is a real advantage and we will not pretend otherwise.

The limitation: analytics sit on top of the recording estate, which means the channels they score are the channels they record.

03 · Voice and text

Verint

The other incumbent, and the same calculation as NICE. Deep workforce engagement tooling, mature compliance recording, large installed base in UK financial services.

Choose Verint over EchoDepth if quality management, scheduling and analytics need to live in one platform under one contract.

04 · Voice and text

CallMiner

Conversation analytics at volume, with a long track record in collections and contact centre optimisation.

Choose CallMiner over EchoDepth if your priority is large-scale transcript mining, category tuning and agent performance analytics rather than per-interaction risk scoring.

05 · Voice and text

Uniphore

Conversational automation and analytics, with strength in real-time agent assist and automation alongside the analytics layer.

Choose Uniphore over EchoDepth if automating and assisting the interaction matters more to you than scoring the risk inside it.

06 · Text

Medallia

Experience management. Survey, feedback and text analytics across the customer journey rather than conduct risk inside the conversation.

Choose Medallia over EchoDepth if the question you are answering is how customers felt about the journey, not what happened in one interaction.

07 · Face and voice

Hume AI

A developer-first emotion API covering vocal and facial expression, with strong research credentials.

Choose Hume over EchoDepth if you have an engineering team that wants raw emotion inference to build on, and you intend to construct the regulatory layer — evidence, audit trail, DPIA, Article 22 handling — yourself.

08 · Face

Smart Eye and Affectiva

The established names in automated facial expression analysis, with heritage in automotive driver monitoring and market research. Affectiva is now part of Smart Eye.

Choose Smart Eye over EchoDepth if your use case is media testing, automotive or academic research. Their facial measurement pedigree is longer than ours.

The limitation: neither is built for FCA-regulated customer contact, and neither scores voice and text alongside the face.

09 · Face, voice and text, fused

EchoDepth

Every platform above scores a channel. EchoDepth scores the gap between them. Face (44 FACS Action Units), voice (pitch, pause, stress) and text (clarity, hedging, commitment) are fused into one congruence score — how far what a customer said sits from what they meant — on every interaction, not a sample.

Choose EchoDepth if the interactions you are worried about are the ones that pass quality assurance. A customer who says “it’s fine, I’ll manage” scores 100% on a checklist and reads as calm on a transcript. The incongruence between the words, the voice and the face is the signal, and it only exists when all three are scored together.

Channel coverage assessed from each vendor’s published documentation, September 2026, and subject to change. This table describes which channels each platform scores, not how well it scores them. Where a vendor believes this misrepresents their product, contact us and we will correct it.

When not to choose EchoDepth

If every interaction you handle is a voice call with no video and no written channel, you are buying two thirds of what we do. Aveni or CallMiner will serve you better and cost you less.

If you already run NICE or Verint across recording and workforce management, the integration economics favour staying put unless the incongruence signal is specifically what you need.

If you want a raw emotion API to build your own product on, Hume is a more direct route than us.

We do not compete with Aveni or NICE on the moments they already see. We enter on the ones they cannot.
